Beautiful hair extensions are just the thing if you are looking for long silky hair. Get hair extensions that will stay in longer and are easy to take care of.
First off let me introduce you to some different hair extensions.
There are 3 different types of hair extension hair.
- Non-Remy hair – it is made of a synthetic material. It is silky smooth, but only lasts 1-2 months before it gets tangled up like a rats nest. Therefore, it needs to be replaced often.
- Remy hair – it is made from real human hair. It is treated in a chemical bath to remove the cuticles. Cuticles are removed and causes issues with the direction of the hair. May sometimes be collected off of the salon floor. Manufactures wash the hair, and treat it with a silicone substance. As a result, After wearing and washing this non-Remy hair the silicone is stripped off and the hair starts to smell bad and gets frizzy. Because of this, it only lasts about 3-4 months. Therefore the only thing you can do is, throw it away.
- Cuticle Remy hair – is collected from one doner that has healthy hair. The hair collected from this doner has all healthy cuticles and it flows in one direction from the root to the tip of the hair. It is resistant to mating and tangling. With proper care it can last six months to a year. It is scarce and can cost a lot of money.
What are the different types of hair extensions?
- Hand tied Wefts – are usually thin type of extension as each strand of hair is tied directly to your own hair. They are more comfortable to wear and touch. Most women would rather have these type of extensions, however it can take a long time to complete the process. 10,000 hairs each hand tied. Very, Very expensive. This procedure has been around for a long time but that doesn’t mean it the best procedure.
- Wefted hair panels – These are sheets or curtains of hair that has been attached to a medium such as clips, tape or glue. Attached to the head in one go in between layers of hair. These can be hand-tied, made by machine or injection molded.
- Taped in extensions – the bundles of hair are attached to tape, thin the stylist uses a hot tool such as a flat iron to attach just below the roots of the hair.
- Clip in extensions – just as it says these hair bundles are attached to a clip. The least expensive way to go and is the most versatile as you can attach and remove them by yourself.
- Sew-in extensions – a super durable extension that stays in for a long period of time. Not for persons that have thin hair. Can be very expensive because of the amount of time to complete the process.
- Fusion hair extensions – these are bundles of hair that are glued onto your own hair with a hot glue gun.
- Microlink extensions – is a bundle of hair that is attached to your own hair using a bead or tube that is attached with a special clamping tool.
These extensions will give you a new look.
